Septimius Severus (Lucius Septimius Severus Pertinax) (April 11, 1451 - February 4, 211) is a Roman emperor of African origin (Berber), who reigned from 193-211. It begins with the arrival in power of provincial non-Roman ancestry and the Severan dynasty which he is the namesake. It is the only emperor born in the province of Africa.
